1. Costa Rica is a tropical country. Therefore the humidity level is high, the temperature (especially on the coast) rises dramatically certain times of the year.
2. Costa Rica has many beautiful local woods that are "acclimated" to the local weather conditions, plus if you go with the right company, they will provide kiln dried wood. Why kiln dried wood? Because those dramatic changes of temperature tend to crack and shrink the wood if it hasn´t been properly dried.
3. Veneer and MDF do not perform well on the coastal weather. They open easily and you will soon have a loose table top cover here and a peeling chair there.

4. By the time you buy the products in another country and pay freight, the Costa Rican customs office will be waiting for you with a 35% import duty on all your furniture.
5. If you are lucky you will get everything in good shape, without scratches or dents. Now, it´s time to find a freight forwarder to do all the paperwork and final delivery to your home.
6. You can find the higher quality wooden items in Costa Rica with the design that you prefer, to match the wood stains of your doors and frames.
